The KG-4 is a legal engine in AR and AH. This engine would run against the Yamato-80 in Hydro and Runabout classes.

      KG-4 v Yamato 80 ???

Aren't you thinking KG-7 v Yamato 80 since I seem to recall the KG-4 as an A engine (15cid) and the KG-7 a B engine (20cid) which would put the KG-7 close to the Y-80 in cubes.

        You think like I do! - A = 15, B = 20.

They've attempted to match the motors to the classes based on speed instead of displacement. The Y-80 has to be stock. The KG4 can be modified.

OMC FE/SE powerhead parts for sale. Kurcz ported block, Mod 50 pistons and cylinder head, exhaust, etc.

Oh good - - - one can modify the KG-4...

but those mods would have to be major to keep up with a Y-80. Can you run a modified Hot Rod 15 in that class? Better shot at the Y-80, or since the NBRA apparently thinks 20cid is good for a 15cid class (A), how about a 20 Hot Rod! Now we're talking . . .
