  • Tentative results from NBRA Nationals!

Just got a phone call from Centralia. Here are some tentative results.

Super E Runabout (FER): Ralph Cook, Burt Hoefs

D Runabout (40 inch D Mod): Mason, Cook, Sumrall
(I heard that Mason was running faster in DR this year than he ever has. Almost as fast as a 44!)

E Hydro: Eric Vanover, Kevin McAfee

    CMH Vanover ???
(My source wasn't 100% on this one but said he was pretty sure that Vanover won.)
    ...

OMC FE/SE powerhead parts for sale. Kurcz ported block, Mod 50 pistons and cylinder head, exhaust, etc.

All I know about CMH is what I posted yesterday.
SEH was scheduled to run today.

            Some results from today.....

            BH: Shane Hebert

ER (44): Dave Mason, Ralph Cook, Kevin McAfee
Mason and Cook both had a 1st and a 2nd. Mason won on time.

DH (40): Kevin McAfee, Jeff Lake
If I'm not mistaken, Tim runs a Bass/Tohatsu.

As a side note, I'd like to see the DSH from the west coast that was at the 2006 Winter Nationals run with the NBRA D Hydros again. (I think it had a Mariner cowling.) That thing was smokin'!

            SEH: Ralph Cook, Shane Hebert
Mason finished 2nd both heats but jumped the gun in the first heat.
Shane is driving a George Newman built boat with a Bill Bracken built motor.

                    Thanks

A special thanks goes to the NBRA officials and Race Organizers. As always, Alan Owen and his crew did an outstanding job at promoting this race. It shows. This event will keep getting bigger and bigger. The weather this year was a tad on the warm side, but where is it not hot in August in the midwest ?

True to form, the NBRA operated effeciently, and effectivley. THey resolved issues right away and did not waste time. I know we all appreciate the efforts of the comissioners, and officials to make this the fairest and funnest place to race. I know I could name a bunch of folks that stand out but I don't want to forget anyone, so thank you all. For the newbies that came, they are planning on your next even in Shelbyville. Perhaps we can draw some more over to have some good fun and racing that weekend.

A huge thanks to all those that made everyone feel welcomed into NBRA.

Next year Ralph......... Next year my friend........... I might have to round up some trophy presentors of my own....

Gotcha! I edited my post. Blame the mistake on Rotten Ralph - he gave me the results.

                      Dave,

You are 100% correct about Alan Owen. He does an outstanding job. If you go to the Short Course Nationals you'll see that Keith Kampen does also.

You always hear what a great race this club or that club had. I have been to a lot of these races and sometimes they are not what they are pumped up to be. But I can say this NBRA National was one of the best overall races I have been to in a while. The boat count was down but the competition wasn't. When you have people like Eric Vanover (APBA D hydro Champ) Ralph Cook (APBA FE runabout champ and would have been Hydro also if the throttle spring had not broke) Rick Miller (APBA 25 Mod Champ) Shane Hebert(probably the fastest A hot rod in the country) at your race you have some fast people. Then throw in the Masons, Kampen, and sometimes the McAfee's get lucky this is a respectable group. The dinner and the band Saturday night was great, the only thing I can say if you missed it, you missed a good time.
