    schedule for Nbra

The spelling on the towns for those googling;; McAlester, Oklahoma and Jacksboro, Texas. OBRA would like to put on a race in the south two weeks after Alex. La...We are looking for a place. Would be nice if we could get tow money, but if the site is good enough and we can get community support that is not necessary.

I understand that it will be on the river this trip. Lake is still out due to area road const.

So the following states with red X's are where NBRA races will be run?
What is the payoff for tow $ and how far does a racer need to travel to get payed tow $. Also what are the typical purses worth for top 3 places per class?

                Nbra

Everyone that shows up gets paid, the ODA pays all of our money in tow money. $1500 is our smallest amount we have and that's at Rockaway Beach, MO and we will have as much as $7,500 at Lucas Oil Speedway. The way it's figured is we take the total miles driven one way by everyone divide that by the total money and that gives us a figure of how much will be paid per mile. Some of the other clubs split it up with both prize and tow money.

Here in Texas we use the same formula as the ODA for tow money. We also only pay tow money, no prize money, we feel everyone should benefit from the generousity of our sponsors. Basicaly if you show up and write down your mileage, one way, you get paid in cold hard cash on Sunday morning. Hope to see you at our race next year!

We typicaly have about $3500.00 to give out in tow money.

I have an offer for you. I usually haul the big trailer with one boat in it. Maybe two. If you want to come to the IL races I will haul your rig to help save you some cash.

If you want some more specifics, we might be meeting at the Copper on Thursdays/ 50 cent hot dog night. Shaun & I go there on Thursdays often in the winter. Or just give me a shout.

Another option is to sanction an NBRA race nearby...

                      OMC three hole engine

                      Hi Dave,
I have an OMC freshly built and still have not chosen a lower unit and ratio. What would you suggest.

We might take you up on that. We have been looking at doing some NBRA races but getting enough time off from work to drive those distances down to the deep south is tough. I'll join you at the watering hole some Thursday and talk. Thanks.

                          going pro

Braxton wants to drive in some pro races, but I had to tell him that he would be lapped in the 500cc hydro class. You can not hold youth down:

                            Alan,

Your engine builder would reccomend a SST45 gearcase. I happen to have one ready to race. I am sure he would not approve of my custom made tower, but I do have that available as well. The gearcas is like brand new, only 3 races on it. It has been shaped to handle hydros instead of the tunnel boats. It has a water pump. I will part with it for $1600 gearcase only. If you want the tower too, it is an additional. Not as much as a new tower built custom for it. Mine was built by myself and a local machine shop.

If it were me, you can go with nearly any gearcase out there now. Komato, Yamato, Bass, even the Merc 44XS cases. Give me a shout sometime we can talk about it. You will get a hundred opinions on it on here.

                              Thanks Dave,
I have 2 OMC cases and a old Bass along with a few others. I have a OMC SST45 case under the six and it works well but provides a bit of lift. I am thinking a Bass 1:1 might be good or are most folks running ratios?
