Texas race

Just curious how did the race on Sunday go in Texas?? I know Saturday was cancelled for a little rain..

Sunday race went well. We started early and got 2 days of racing in one day due to the diligence and planning of Jack Stotts and Gardner Miller. Had one rain delay for about 45 minutes...lots of mud and lots of fun. Only saw 2 minor accidents where somebody dug a sponson and came out of the boat. We had a very positive reaction from the community and the first question presented to us when it was over was can we do this again next year...of course we can...and will. Thank you to all who travelled so far and put up with the unpredictable Texas weather ( we had 9 states represented). This was our little testing hole that turned into a race site...awesome. Mark, you just needed a bath and nature made it possible. Thanks to Jack and Gardner Miller for their work..keeping things moveing. Braxton was in fifteen heats, he did not have time for lunch...Blood sugar went down, but a coke revived him..You have to be in good shape and 15 years old...He didn't jump and had thirteen first and 2 seconds..His football team is calling him. Most fields were 7 to 8 boats..

I want to thank everyone that came this weekend and braved the rain. Thanks to the city of Jacksboro and everyone in the community that supported our event, with a special thank you to Jacky Hall of the Jacksboro Streets/Parks Dept. I especially want to thank the Jacksborro Fire Department for their support with the rescue boat and dive team and their presence in the pits to keep everyone safe. Also thank you to the EMS team for the dedicated ambulance for our race all weekend. I also want to thank the Air Rescue crew for bringing in their helicopter on Sunday for the race and to Dave and Lyle Mason for their help with the setup on Thusday. Lastly, Joe John thank you for the kind words but as you know this was a team effort from the Lone Star Outboard Association Club, Jack and I could not have pulled this off without your collective help.

Look forward to this being an annual event and it will only get bigger and better from here, thank you to all involved.

Obviously, LSORA put a lot of thought and elbo grease into the prep for the Jacksboro race. We wanted for nothing except for a little sunshine and one black flag which I had managed to misplace. Joe John bailed me out and we pressed on. I put the stand by "flag" in your trailer Joe John. Thanks. It takes a lot of dedicated folks to pull off a race and I would like to thank all those who contributed. Patsey Ruth and Becky Hawkins put in a long day on the judges stand and just tolerating me, warrants a lot of praise. Thank you ladies! Also, my thanks to those who volunteered for turn boat duty/rescue crew. We can't do our thing without having people to do this sometimes lengthly chore. I had fun and am looking forward to Jacksboro in 2013. Jack

Scales

As Braxton flew by the field in 25mod, Jack could be heard over the mike,'Be sure to weight Braxton when he gets back to the pitts'. Dudley Malone had brougt the Oklahoma scales to texas to make sure Braxton was legal wt. So we made Dudley happy throwing in our seven pounds in the boat. The 25 mod class has very low weight rule, which makes it different than the C Mod. class which uses the same motor and boats. This class makes it possible to use most 25cubic inch motors to compete. It does not allow the C Mercury which has 30 cubic inches. Since we travel hours and hours to a race and spend allot on fuel to arrive, it just makes sense to use the equipment more than two six minutes boat rides. Since Braxton is eating 8 meals a day, we will no longer require Dudley to bring the scales.
