  • Thanks Jeff Ruth,Dan Crummett,and NBRA

Some of you may know by my previous posts that my Dad retired from racing in 1974 when I was 11 years old. I have wondered ever since then what it would be like to drive one of these things, all the while thinking I would never have the opportunity to do so. Well check this out.....

Yep, that's right. The first picture is me fulfilling a 35 year old dream, but wait, it gets even better. The real "icing on the cake" is that the second picture is my son Ryan. Never, ever, in my wildest dreams would I ever have dared to hope to see my son in a hydro. But I did, and the funny part is I think that was even more special to me than getting to drive one myself.

Dan and Jeff, you guys know this would have NEVER happened without the generosity of you two. Words are inadequate but all I can say is thank you... thank you very much.

We plan on being at the race in Stillwater in August and may be able to make a few more.

Thanks for the kind word about being a natural but I have to admit, when I saw the video of me driving, my first thought was "you big sissy"!. The natural talent you saw must have been when Ryan was driving. He did much better than I did.

        Aw shucks...tweren't nuthin'!!!!

Glad you two got to drive and to be part of this sport. I know I can speak for Jeff here, too, it's a pleasure to see folks interested and to be part of a "first ride."

I know what it's like to have that urge to drive a hydroplane from the time you're a kid and finally the time comes...late, but it comes and it's a hoot!!!

I'll send you the photos I shot as soon as I can get squared away around here.

good things come to those who wait!!

            Dennis:

It is great to see the pictures of you and your son fulfilling a lifelong dream. I hope Lynn was/is able to share the excitement with you. It is never too late to get and stay involved, either as a driver, owner, or contributor at the races. Keep your enthusiam for the sport, again it is great to see. Say hello to all your family for Eileen and I.

Thanks Bill and I will tell everyone you said hi. Dad was not able to make the trip as he had business to tend to but you could see it was special for he and Mom both as they watched the video with us.
