New OBRA Races for 2009

Butch Webb has been busy hustling OBRA race sites and races. Here's two new ones:

May 30: Mansfield, Ark. private lake. Saturday race NBRA points only (means no prize money).

July 11-12, Perry Lake, Perry, Okla., Satursday and Sunday race. NBRA points only (means no prize money).

Both Mansfield and Perry races will have a flat rate $125 entry fee for all the classes you want to run. The fee is a daily charge and offsets the fact sponsorship is difficult to find this year.


Also, don't forget the Series Challenge race at Boomer Lake in Stillwater, August 22-23. Now's the time to get your motel reservations made: $65 a night, Stillwater Plaza, 405 377-7010.

awe.. wish we would have known about Mansfield sooner. I LOVE it there... but have a trip planned for that weekend. I hope that one will come back next year...

I sure hope so.. that place is a beautiful race site, with awesome fans and just an awesome race all in all. I raced there in 2006 and I met a LOT of cool people. I still talk to many of them. (When we had the school/cheerleading squad running the festivities on the bank) I was only 16 at the time. So all the young people being there made it fun to mingle. If that many people show up again... maybe some interest can be built in that area. And eventually some new racers...


P.S. Mr. Dan, looking forward to seeing you again as well. It has been a while. But dont worry about lookign behond you too much. I know how bad eye get the older you get. I will stay in front of you to make it a little easier to see me haha. Its going to be fun. Just keep an eye out for that dock by the landing. Lol... (Had to say it.. Haha)

A big THANKS to Butch!

I'm scheduled for knee surgery June 1. Won't be able to make this one and I really hate missing races that close to home (only about 4 hours)...

July 11-12, Perry Lake, Perry, Okla., Satursday and Sunday race.

Torn meniscus, torn ACL, torn MCL. Don't know how long it will take me to recover from surgery to patch up those. This one could be a possibility. What's the schedule going to be like? Will E and Super E run combined or separately?

NBRA points only (means no prize money).

Prize money is nice, but prize money or lack thereof, has never determined whether or not I attend a race.

Dave, take care of that knee... remember all knee problems are "work related"...keep repeating that!!!!

RE: Mansfield. I won't be going either, have to work for the man that day in Illinois, but what's combined with what or if it's combined will depend a lot on how many folks show up. Butch is probably the expert on that race.

Hope you get up and around (flexible enough to get back in a boat) soon.

Just went to the doctor today and had an xray on my foot. I have four more weeks of my foot in a boot and minimal pressure on it. I am so bummed to miss the race. Mansfield is a beautiful place with great camping. I am hopeful to get turned loose for the Rockaway Beach race. I am getting ready to look on Combat Boots with a Steel Sole.com to get me on the race circuit. I will figure out how to get back in the boat sooner than the doctor thinks@!!!!!!!!
