Cleanliness is next to Godliness... Superb welds on the mid-section.
The roller for the rope tie-down is a neat idea. I would a assume a LOT of
work goes into keeping the perpendicular line from the crank shaft to
the drive shaft straight and keeping the base plate parallel. I only wish there was
a great need for the plates as I could run them on one of the 4 lasers in the shop
that I sell for. Just dreaming. That 4 hole gusset would be about 2 minutes to make.
Race the hell out of those ! Racing engines are made to race, not sit and look pretty. If they were made to look pretty we wouldn't use needle bearings and spend countless hours fitting them in the right places and cussing if one slips out during assembly !
Nice work, hope they all run well for you. Hope to see you at a couple races this year, come on over and play !
Dave,
back in the 80's we sold your Dad one of our motors and he made the commet that he was afraid to touch it because he didnt want to get finger prints on it!, If I can recall, your Dad liked painting things yellow back then.
We will see you around.
Yes, Yellow Jacket was the name of our race team back then. I can tell you his one C Merc had many coats of yellow on it. We rebuilt it a few years ago with intent to kick some Yamato azz at the winter Nat's. I can't even begin to explain ho wmuch yellow was on that thing ! With the new rules for C in APBA, we felt then we could make one that would eat those rice burners like sushi. Well, it seems it was not meant to be as the engine spit the rings, and piston parts out the exhaust within the first 30 seconds of break in. It is still a project that might be finished again some day. Hard to find the right stuff to make it work right now.
Of course if you pit next to Dad & I this season, I am not gonna help you in the pits.... I am afraid to get your stuff dirty !!!! LOL... seem slike a good excuse to not lift to me
