  • Orange Cup Regatta at Lakeland-Inboards/OPC/Stock

Orange Cup Regatta starts with testing tomorrow followed by racing both Saturday and Sunday. Thanks to Gene Engle and his group for the hard work in putting this on. Hope to have many boats here in Florida to start the season.

Check in tomorrow night and each night of the weekend for reports on what should be an excellent weekend in both weather and racing. I am grateful to get out of the ice of Indianapolis!!!!!

    Saturday

Weather was beautiful, windy, but water was bumpy, but raceable.

    sst 120-Terry Rinker both heats
    sst 45 - Rob Rinker-both heats
sst 60- Brent Dilliard, great fight with Roddy Foreman split heats-Time
    Mod U- Terry Rinker-both heats
SS- Danny McMannus/Ron Titus- 1st/4th did not get final

ASXR- Billy Simmons in both heats Wally Schipf up and over, but okay
CSH-Pinner and Howie Nichols split heats, did not get final yet

JSS-Tom Packradooni in both heats. Had 9 boats great show.
2.5 mod had Jim Aid go skyward at the start of 1st heat, he was not hurt, but very lucky. Boat hung in the air for quite awhile before it finally blew over.
PS/KRR-Mike Allen won the first heat, unable to run 2nd as hurt motor
Duff Daily in the 2nd heat.

Story here was Nevin Hoffert, long time friend of these guys who passed away a few months ago asked that he be remembered at the first race after his passing. Remember him we did. Bryan Ohlis took a lap before the running of the PS/KRR 1st heat, with Nevin's ashes in the 8th cylindar. Now that is some ride and way to go!!!!!

9 JSS which put on a "Whale" of a show. Thanks to the Polk County Sports Marketing folks. Gene and Pat Engle I am sure are exhausted and did a great job.

Thanks to all who showed. TheLedger.com will have Sunday's results. All were safe on Sunday
