U-7 driver J. Michael Kelly injured during Gold Cup
J. Michael Kelly, driver of the U-7 Graham Trucking, spent the last two days on crutches after injuring himself during Sunday's running of the Gold Cup in Detroit.
Kelly's boat suffered damage to the front canard wing when he was caught in a roostertail during Heat 3A. The front wing was ripped from the sponsons in the incident.
The driver controls the canard wing with foot pedals and after the final heat, it was discovered that Kelly had suffered an ankle injury. He is expected to be fully recovered in time to drive at next week's event in Tri-Cities, Wash.
In the meantime, Kelly should be a brand-new father. His fiancée Angela Heckard was having contractions Tuesday and may have given birth to a baby boy by presstime.Last edited by pro350hydro; 07-17-2009, 12:01 AM.Sattler Racing R-15
