Having seen the U-3 at San Diego, I agree...There is something about a Thunder boat still "Thundering" that the over sized vacuum cleaner engines just don't have. Don't get me wrong here, they are still pretty darn awesome to see, just not the same. We missed the U-3 last year (he did not show because San Diego took the appearance money away) but he gave every one of the boats in this Gold Cup line up a very good run.

          exciting!!!

The last truly exciting thunderboat for me was the bud griffon , gve me chills coming across tide outflow at missin bay.
Nothing was as exciting as sitting on the breakwall at Detroit and boats coming out of the upper turn so close you could feel the spray though. Last time at detroit for me was 72 or 3 , don't recall any whisper boats.

              Amazing

Yhis is my first trip seeing unlimiteds in Detroit for an unlimited race and I am loving it.

If anyone is in the pits today, stop by the U-50 Spirit of the Navy and say hi to me. I'm crewing on the boat this year, working with their onboard computers.

              (maybe I should say U-50)

Wish I was there Pat. Listening online instead. I saw a pic of you carrying the N2 box. Too bad Kevin has to start so far on the outside. Like Madison, he could have done well there. You guys have that boat running real well. Good luck the rest of the way NAVY!
