  • An outsiders view of the sport

Had to share this. This famous commentator from the other side of the pond can't believe what the sport of boat racing is like. Billy Seebold takes him for a ride of his life.

I sat in Steve Davids ride at the Gold Cup a few years back in Detroit when I was on the APBA BOD. Ya look at the vidieos and you think there is plenty of room. NOT!!!

You basically strap a jet engine to your ass.The Harvey boat was a canard which took 2 hands to move it. Like I'm gonna take 2 handsoff the wheel to adjust the flight of a 200mph boat. Niether did Steve David. They kinda guessed on the set up!!! LIKE WE ALL DO!!!!

The other neat thing, they have computers for set ups. But its always the little black book of notes that they refer too. Can you say Stock Outboard or Kneel down technology.

Its funny how similiar our APBA venues are!

Looks scary... I'm in! 600mph doesn't look like much from the air, but I bet 200 on water will suck the seat cushion so far up my arse you may never want it back! J. Michael, you wanna hook me up?

I would pilot either one in a heart beat, given the chance! An old drag racing phrase I always admired: "At 200 MPH you have no friends!"
