  • Transom height- Yamato 102 vs. 302

    Is there a difference in basic transom height between the two, and what is it? For example- my hydro was designed for a 102, and that is what I run. What do I need to do to the transom in order to run a 302?

      Transom Height

      The 302 is about 1.25" shorter, so you will need to cut your transom down about 1.25".

          MM to Inches

          30mm = 1.2". (1mm = .04")

            Thanks for the conversion Dean! Now I wonder if I got a 302, would it be better than a strong running 102?

              302 vs 102

              Rich,

              A strong running 102 vs a 302 is probably a toss up. The advantage of the 302 is the replacement parts and it is a CD ignition. It might depend on the reason that you want to get or switch to a 302.

              Regards,

                Dean,
                I`m with you on your stated advantages. I feel my 102 is a strong runner. My biggest reason is having a second engine for a back up. At this point, props are probably where it`s at with my rig. I have a few new ones to test, and as we know, CSH is so very competitive! I will be looking for a fast 302 in the near future. Thanks!
