I talked to Matt and said there is a big turn out full field of DMH and I think 9 FEH they got three out of four sets done so will be busy tomorrow, weather good as is the water. Matt won 20SS and James Luce won AXSR dont have any other results.

Why oh Why do they keep schedualing more classes than then they can run in a day?????? How can we ever "sell" this kind of a program. We are our own worst enemy.

For years, and maybe even now, the CVRA race schedule included all classes in an effort to please all drivers. I can recall days when we pumped out 46 heats to finish the schedule - brutal for the scorers and race committee.

Solution: Do it like the USTS - Classe races on Sat OR Sun. Split the field and cut down the number of heats per day to a managable size. Or pick several *hot* classes that have a good turnout and dump the weak classes to run both days. OR, pick hot classes, run them both days, and run selected weak classes on one day only.

Of course, any reduction in entries via weeding out weak classes would cause entry fee to go up since we usually finance our own race. But with a compact schedule maybe we could entice sponsorship cash influx.

                    Great Thing

Here it is folks. On my way out of Jesup after my first race we stopped at a Gas station. Me and my partner sent our boys in to get food while we gassed up and checked the load for the trip home. I heard this lady in a real quite voice say "Thank You Fellas" then I heared it again "Thank You Fellas" I walked around the back of my truck and see this lady standing and looking at the boat on the back of my truck and shes says "Thank You Fellas" and I said "your welcome ma'am" Well I must of had a puzzled look on my face for It took me by surprize that this lady was talking to me let alone Thanking Me. She tells me that they came out to watch us race on both days. I told her we really appreciate the support. She tells me that they never miss a race well this makes me and my partner breakout in big smiles. Then she tells me that her 9 year old boy in a wheel chair really looks forward to the races every year. I asked her if she brought him down to the pits to see the boats up close and meet the drivers. Now she gets a confused look on her face and ask is that possible? I told her most definitely she says she will try to bring him over to the pits at the next race. Then it dawns on me the Van seting along the back stretch for the last two days was her and her son. She had to get home but she wanted me to pass on to all "God Bless You and You will all be in her prayers". So the next time you go down the back straight at Jesup toss them a wave and a smile for this family. I don't know about you but even though I finished last in all my races I Left Jesup feeling the biggest winner ever

Dave not sure that it would be possible I just met her for a few minutes. I know the van she was driving set on the back straight. I did stress to her to bring him to the pits so the drivers and crews could meet him. I plan to be at the next Jesup race and will be making it a point to find him and his family to meet the family of boat racers.
