            New Driver

The driver in the photo in my ist post above is my grandson, Quinn Doerle (Greg Lyons cousin) at his first race in Millville Sat 10/13. He was trying out racing, in ASR, with thoughts of maybe having a go at it next year. Time will tell.

                Ribbing

Thanks Scott, Quinn hasn't stopped talking about his ride. It was a shame he had a committed Lacrosse game on Sunday. I enjoy the ribbing but if you'd like, here, I have a whole album of just Greg that you can enjoy.

Who ran the 12-A, DSH with the Tohatsu? This has to be the first on the "real" east coast, no?

                            Eddie,

12-A ran at Lock Haven as well as I recollect. Maybe elsewhere?

Yeh it's me. Back after 43 years (8A DSH 1963-64). Just trying to have a little more fun before they haul my asshez to the dump. Personally, I view the Bass/Tohatsu as a viable way for a person who wants to race, ie 'go fast' etc, to get er done. In 1963, when I was 20, my 'entry level' raceboat was a D Sidcraft and a ratty 55H (984719). Fresh out of Mercury school, I made it run. My prop box consisted of 'one' 2 blade SS prop from R.A. Smith of Shrevesport - it worked pretty good. Along comes Viet-nam, the draft, and the Air Force and I'm gone for 30 plus years - my race stuff sold to persons I cannot recall. Two years ago, I find an old hydro and round up a 55H and proceed to run at the back of the pack. Over the winter I build a mk58, and still run too slow. I decide I need some 'new' equipment. I order a Tohatsu from Sid Bass and a boat from Bob O'Connor. Down at Thompson, this year, one of my pals slams the door on me entering the first turn off the start of the last heat and my old D boat becomes history. O'connor calls me the following Monday and tells me my 'new boat' is ready. I've been enjoying life more ever since. Not to mention the fact that the HAT starts so nicely.
