Sample Letter #1
Dear Legislator:
Please support the children, bring S 2392 to the floor and YES.
As you know, S 2392 creates an exception to the age requirement for powerboat operation conducted during authorized races.
S 2392 will once again allow our children to participate in legally sanctioned New Jersey regattas. The children drive small, soapbox derby like boats powered by a 15 horsepower outboard Johnson or Mercury motor.
All kids who participate in outboard regattas are well protected from physical injury by wearing safety equipment as helmets, life jackets, gloves, shoes and protective clothing.
Also, all regattas are insured, both for property and medical, have medical professionals on site and are nationally sanctioned by the American Powerboat Association, American Outboard Federation or National Boat Racing Association.
Please give the children a chance. Stand with the children, bring S 2392 to the floor and vote yes.

Dear Legislator:
Please support our kids – Bring S 2392 to the floor and vote YES.
As you know, S 2392 creates an exception to the age requirement for powerboat operation conducted during authorized races.
S 2392 will help keep our kids off the streets and away from drugs and alcohol by allowing them to participate in legally sanctioned regattas in New Jersey.
The boats the kids use are safe and subject to inspection before each race. The boats are shorter than nine feet long and powered by a small 15 horsepower outboard fishing motor such as a Johnson or Mercury fitted with a performance propeller.
Too many children nowadays are abusing drugs and alcohol, or engaging in other illicit activities. I feel S 2392 will help keep our children off the streets. Our kids will have the opportunity to see positive role models by being able to spend quality time with their fathers, mothers, family members and other respected adults. These role models will help them learn life skills such as sportsmanship, respect for others, teamwork, woodworking skills and small engine repair.
Please help us keep our kids off the streets. Stand our kids, bring S 2392 to the floor and vote yes.
