I agree with Richard and for the first time I can understand him! Just kidding buddy. I have seen cheating before in the inboards. It really sucks especially when you work so hard to get it alright and a cheater takes it away from you. And for what a trophy if were lucky.

            Righting a wrong

I know that the rules would probably prohibit such an act, but I hope the inboard commision can look into themselves to bring some justice to this horrible show of poor sportsmanship and driver endangerment.

I'd like to see them take her average season finish and apply it to the heat that she was robbed of. If the racers in her class are anything like the guys I know from outboarding, they would applaud the decision and quickly get on board to see this through. While this wouldn't correct the actual foul that was committed, it would at least be justice to those wronged. To just tell them "too bad, we wish it didn't happen" is just not enough. I'm sure hoping that the people she raced with all season would see this the same way. Other than what I'm guessing is one person, they could all be in the same situation some day. Wouldn't they want what is actually fair in principle if not the written rule?

As far as finding the one responsible, good luck. Let's not loose track of what should be done for the Shane's though to fix this and do whatever is in the inboard commision's power to give her the heat finish that everyone knows was probable based on the whole season's performance.

              a possible solution

Based on the previous post, it seems to me that either the inboard commission or the APBA BOD could and should rule on this issue, or at least it certainly should be brought to their attention for remedial action if possible. You always hear about decisions made "for the good of the sport, or to uphold the integrity of the sport". It seems to me this situation begs for that type of solution if all the facts are as stated on this thread. It certainly could not hurt to bring it up to them. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

                ? guilty ?

Police should probably look at whoever stood to benifit most or whoever might have a grudge. Hopefully they have fingerprints, etc.

                    Dirty Tricks

Ask Joel Weigel what happened to him at the AOF nationals in Depue a few years ago? Seems someone, after he had won 20 stock hydro and the outfit was sitting in the inspection area, while he was winning 102 stock hydro decided to put sand in his gas tank. That's a real sportsmanship move!!! NOT!!!

Stuart Shane is Kelly's father and the one posting the info on the inboard forum...

T Class is a beginner class in inboards basically... it uses a Corrola 1.5L motor in stock form, 1984-1987 years or so.

                              Somewhat Disagree Steve

While in the spirit of boat racing I 100% agree with you, I have to say I doubt this could happen. If they do something other than say sorry this happened, better luck next time, it would set a precadent (fancy lawyer term I think) to a lot of bad things. Next time someone cut you off in the corner at the Nat's, one could then take the ruling from the above precedent and apply it towards a complete re-run.

I for one love to see wrongs righted some how, but I have never seen it happen in APBA. Unless there is a specific rule broke or mis-interpreted the rule is the rule.

Some lawyer might be able to word up a proposal for this type contingencey so the victim can get some sort of restitution, not sure. Would be nice in situations like this. Just a sad, sad society it is. I simply don't know how one can live with themselves doing stuff like that. Especially to a beginners class.
