  • Kilo's this weekend In OR.

Good luck to all that are trying to brake a record this weekend in OR.

I know there is one 125ccr there from MN. Driven by David Tenney. Who else is trying for a record this weekend?

No records..to windy. Entries were low, but even so, luck and mother nature were not on the participants side on this day. The Tenny team along with Dan Kanfoush and his team made the long trip west for not. Tenny was having motor problems Saturday, after some positive testing on Friday. Twice he took the water, but went dead both times before making a run at the traps. In Dan's case, he took to the water early in the morning. He ran over the record at over 108 mph one way (old record 107+), but because of near white cap conditions at and past scanner 2, could not get a good run at the traps on his return run and was unable to back up his first run. Both drivers, along with the rest of the racers, crews, officials, and volunteers spent most of the day waiting for the wind to die down. It didn't happen and at 3 pm it was called.

Thanks to those racers that attended, but mostly thanks to CORA, the race committee, and all the volunteers that set-up, toredown, and stayed on the course all day in the cold, wind, and rain.

12, gezz that is sad. Region 11 had 15 last March. The death of Kilo's are very near. What the heck can we do? Any ideas out there.

Add a kilo course to the east coast(if there isn't one) and make it somewhere up north for the temp and altitude advantage. Or, add a single boat closed course record to the rule book, like a qualifying lap. Almost like they do now anyway LOL!

Matt ; Back in my day, we ran kilos in Norristown,PA. Schuylkill River, [ Port Indian ] Maybe Phillp D. remembers... As near as i remember in the 60's i ran BSH & DSH In BSH with the wind & down stream 70mph up stream & into the wind low 60's, no record! DSH with & down 80+, return 70+ no record. I belive there was a dog leg involved. Some records were set. We, Charlie Hornickle & I put the wire along the RR tracks used APBA's scaners Food for thought!!!!!!!!! BILL ps LOTS OF WORK

                  Keep the Kilos Alive

Here is an Idea to kick around.

Create an award for the top 3 fatest Kilo runs of the year. There could be a regional award and a national award.

Ad this to the already existing Kilo records event and give trophies.

I don't know if that would fly ... but how about if the year's fastest kilo speed for each class carried as many points as the Nationals? Double points if a record is set. That would attract a lot of entries ... and add lot of demand for kilos all over the country

Points is the way to go! But no special kilo boats to qualify for points.
Maybe the boat will need to be registered?

You could have two catigories. One for points using a competition set up, one for records, ie no transom height restrictions.
