  • 302/102 Fuel tank...?

    How much does it hold?

How many laps of your typical 3/4 mile course could you do on a tank?

    Thanks.

Hold's about a half gallon. It is good for any size race coarse we run on. If you ran a 1 2/3 and milled a full 3 minutes you might be close to running out. We used to cut them in half and weld a 1 or 2 inch band in them to make them larger. The only time we like a larger tank is if you run a marathon where you would be pumping fuel from the boat to the top tank then a larger tank means a little less pumping during the race. Mike

So sounds like you could easily do 6 laps on 3/4 mile course if you had a beach start instead of milling? Maybe 8 laps?

On a 5 mile course, if you start your engine at 1:30 an mill very slow (and fill the tank to the top of the threads) you MIGHT make it to the finish. Many of racers without some type of tank extension run out before the finish. A stock Yamato tank is not enough for a 5 mile race.

Thanks guys, so likely 6 laps with beach start is fine. 8 is a no go.

That's what I wanted to know.
