  • little home made boat.. opinions pls

i have a little boat that i made with no plans just made it as i went along. and it performs great and i get 22.7mph with a 6hp. im 115lbs.

i think the max HP it should/could take is a 20hp maybe 25

what do u think we be a ideal 25hp and 15hp and what prop? wany wat speeds should i expect?

by 15a do you mean an Evinrude OMC racing engine?

If so, find your saw because you'll need to trim the transom a bit. A standard 15 might work. What are the dimensions of the boat?

There is a racer in Bermuda, in Hamilton I think, named Guy DeSilva. You might want to look him up.

lol i will go out on a limb here. From the looks of it I would say the tires are about 12 inches, that would put the transom at close to 16 inches. Am i close ber1023 ? 12 feet long? btw its a cute lil boat

I would think a 15 - 20 horsepower motor should be ok. I wouldn't go any bigger though because with the bottom at 90 degrees to the sides it could easily catch and turn over. Nice pretty little boat.

it doesnt catch to easily.. i think ill put my 15 on it.. with the biggest prop possible it revs over 6000 with my dad in it..

Hard chined boats [sharp side to bottom] will become more dangerous as speed increases and even if its shown no indication yet. You could still find yourself upside down all wet still holding the wheel in a New Jersey second. lol
Ease into more power/tork with caution while turning, watch out for stange handling in tail winds and experiment with the best angles of approach to other boats wakes. Good luck.. it looks cool.
