Mike,
Thank You for the continued support with the Marathon Series
I got started in hydros this year (ASH), and now I'm thinking about maybe adding a runabout in part because the marathon idea sounds pretty cool ... so here goes with a few dumb questions:
when you run at a circuit event, how many laps are the "marathons"?
apparently you run all classes (ie. A thru D) together?
If I was looking for an A runabout, would all Racecrafts be suitable if I have aspirations to try the Top O someday?
Thanks.

At Trenton, Grass Lake, & Big Rapids the marathon ends when you cross the Start/finish line, 20 minutes after the start of the race.
At TopO' it is a set course of approximately 42 miles each day. http://www.tomorc.com/The_Course.html.
Racecraft does build a quality marathon boat, but most of them are built for the short coarse.
Wel come on down. In an "A" you should consider a Austin or Austin coy. The boats are older but you should be able to find one fairly cheap. 400.00 to 700.00 . you will 2.5 - 3 Gallons. Please if you need to ask questions call me at 989-975-7747. Mike Affholter 51-m

WOW! This sounds really exciting! I gotta do this next year!
I really wish I could have made it this year.
Thank you for all your support Mike. Don't worry about the D class. It's being revived as we speak (or should I say... type )
Nick, I've been spending this past week piecing my hydro back together. (A barrel roll at Rochelle this past summer) I didn't see any need to put any west or varnish over the new wood. Since it was for one race only. After this weekend, It was gonna go to my repair guy for all new cockpit sides. While I was working, I kept looking over at my runabout. After a while, I figured I'd better put some varnish over the new wood. It might be a while before I spend any money on the hydro. I have a new love.
