  • Huge Thanks - Touchstone Energy

I wanted to take a moment and thank Touchstone energy for sponsoring the NBRA Short COurse Nationals. What an event !! The racing was intense with big dogs from all over.

    Some highlights:

Meeting Kev's Coffee and his brother, cool guys. And THANKS for the extra help you gave in the pits, I sure appreciated it !

Meeting the locals who wore those green tshirts that said Hydrofest Staff on them. They were the nicest folks to talk to, and it made me feel welcomed and appreciated. I can say to them, it is us who appreciate the hard work you put into this race. It shows this race site is one that will continue to grow.

Thanks to the Medical Helicopter that was on site along with the ambulances. The Helicopter landed next to my trailer ! I sure felt like if anything happened, the best medical attention available was at our fingertips. A HELICOPTER !!

I also saw a RC helicopter on site that would fly over the end of the race course, away from the action enough to not cause any issues should it fall, taking ariel photos of the races. Now I have to say, these should be some great pictures when they get them posted to their website.

Thanks to everyone for coming to this place for some good fun. Oh yeah, we raced too. I think we started around noon and ended around 4:00 - 5:00 each day. Testing each morning. I know I finally got to beat Ralph Cook in SEH (FEH) !! Well okay, truth be told, he was there.... and I did win SEH on Sunday. Just not Saturday. His towerhousing had a crack that prevented him running. Oh well....

And the Novice drivers, there were six of them. Fantastic job kids. The OMC's are proving they can run with the Y80 restricted in Novice. Still some work to be done, but it is viable.

And thanks to the APBA guys who came over and had some fun. It is time to remember, that NBRA is just boat racers, same as APBA. We are all of the same make, human. Just different models.

The camping at this site is great. The resort in the area is first class. The golf course where the meet and greet took place was great.

And the best thing I recall, was the smile on everyones faces during the day.

Thanks Shelbyville and Touchstone Energy !!! I will be back next year !!

    Hydrofest

What a race! The sponsors for this race are the best I have seen in 50 years of racing. And they say this is just a preview of whats to come. You truly missed a great event if you were not there. The short course Nats on Sat was some of the most competitive racing I have seen in some time. Some of the higlights I remember Kevin McAfee winning CMH Hydro with a Merc over a full field of Yamatos, short course was a great equalizer, and Kevin drove a great race. Jimmy Homfeld with a surprise win in EMH. And in DMH hydro Jeff Lake beat Kevin McAfee 40ci mod merc with a Stock Tohatsu He is rolling. congrats Jeff & Tim. EMR was most probably the most exciting with a full field and some really hard driving both heats with Ralph Cook coming out on top. And of course I would remember this my son Keith with a win in CMR. Make your plans for next year the sponsors are planning some great incentives to get you there.

        Shelbyville

I would like to thank everyone that showed up to this race. Alot of people worked very hard on this race to make it happen. It was a great turnout with 80+entris on Sat in only 10 classes. Most of the 4 cylinder classes had full fields and the E runabout race on Sat was great. I appreciate all of the APBA members and NBRA members that showed up. It makes all the hard work worth it.

I would like to thank the Kampen's for all the hard work that went into putting on a great race. On SUN. one of the best e-runabout races I have ever seen between NBRA great Kevin mcafee and APBA NAT CHAMP bobby,(CAN i be a turn judge please) laws, The only thing that would have made it better is if Dave Mason would have been in the middle.(a fender bender on sat kept him on the bank, but there is always next year)... PS They did not charge you to test before the race!!!!!

No reason not to post them here. I was tired as you can read on that forum Doug had mechanical problems on the way home, so we got in a lot later. Then of course that old work got in the way monday. Wanted to put it there as oda will be using that site alot in the future. I myself post alot of the pictures that I take at races there for the fellow racers to see. (not a professional I just play) Anyway here they are copied over.

Thanks to all who put on a great event. The sponsors were great and it is always fun when the people are really excited that you are there racing. I know Keith Kampen put a lot of work into the event also. I don't know if I am up to driving all night and racing the next day for a while, but I am very glad we made the trip. Sorry to skip out on Sunday's racing, but I was able to get to bed at a decent time to be able to drill on teeth the next day!!!!!!!
The E Runabout race was awesome. Hope to continue to see the big runabouts make a comeback.
