  • Best Race No One Went To...

I guess no one is an exageration, but it was a very intimate group at Lake Lytle this weekend. Picture this, go out your hotel room and walk 50 yard one direction you are in the Pacific Ocean. Walk 150 yds the other direction and you are in the pits. Take a right and walk less than 1/4 mile to the pub and eat some really tasty ribs.

The racing was awesome, with Mike Bartlett and Mike Perman hooking up for a hell of a duel in ASR. Jamie Nilsen got beat by his brother by a few thousandths of a second in OSY, then turned around and beat Mike by the same margin in CSH the next day. Aaron Salmon won his first race ever in a runabout, and his second.

Big thanks to Mike and Denise Johnson and the rest of CORA for putting on a really fun event. UNFORTUNATELY CORA can't afford to put on races for a few of our closest friends for long. PLEASE come to Rockaway Beach OR next year and join us, I guarentee you won't regret it. Tony

        Sea Level

Gotta love the thick horsepower makin' air at sea level, and spectator support!

This race will most likely suffer unless Lake Lawrence gets moved back to it's regular date.

Center picture is the course. About 5/8 mile.

If you WANT to race on the water in the background, bring your marathon boat

One of the reasons the locals were happy to have us is that we demostrate using the lake for recreational purposes. The boat ramp is used primarily by bay fisherman driving from Wheeler or Garibaldi to flush their motors (not to fish). I'm talking dozens per day on a weekend. When we left Monday, there were three boats on the ramp flushing, and two more lined up.

It was a good time. We had a lot of help from our friends.

Hey Mike - looks like the outlet was plugged the those shots were taken - we could get a 3/4 mile course ine, but there wouldn't be a pit area!

Actually those were taken Saturday morning on my Espresso run before I set the buoys.
