  • Wyatt Nelson

I read where Wyatt Nelson was seriously injured in a Champboat accident. Does anyone have any updates on his condition?

The Nelson family is in our prayers!

    Wyatt Nelson

I used to race against Wyatt, Tod, Sherry and Fred (father) back in the 70` and 80`s. They are all great competitors, and good folks too. Sorry to hear about Wyatt. May God bless him and his family as well- our prayers are out to them.

ok I may have this slightly wrong but from what I could tell from the poor cell connection. Wyatt went into surgery either early this morning or late last night and they did something to the 3rd or 5th vertabre and they are hoping for the best. Hoping to get a hold of Krysti & the girls later to find out more. (They were there helping Mom score the race)

The Allen's send their prayers to the Nelson family.

Thank you very much for the update! I hadn't posted any details I had heard as they were not confirmed. Please keep us updated!

        Thanks again,

Our thoughts and prayers are with you Wyatt.

Wyatt and his entire family raced stock outboards for years with Wyatt eventually moving into the tunnel boats. At St. Louis this year, Wyatt ran 120 and Champboat with his son running the 45 class.
We have been to a number of Champboat races the last couple years and no one has been more friendly and approachable than Wyatt. He would take the time to show you his operation and explain things. He is the Champboat we rooted for at every race.

We wish you the best Wyatt.

                Thank You

Thank you for all of your prayers and thoughts. My dad has severely fractured his T-4 and T-5 vertebrae. Some of this fracture unfortuneatly injured his spinal cord. The surgery was mainly for relieving the stress the fracture was putting on his spinal cord and also stabilzation of his back. The surgery was a success, in the sense that they accomplished what I just mentioned. He currently has no feeling from his chest down, but we will continue to fight through this tough time. As of 4pm today (Monday), we were able to move him out of the Intensive Care Unit into a room of his own. In a few days we will start his rehabilitation at a hospital which specializes with spinal cord injuries. Right now we aren't sure where this will be, but it will try to be as close to family as possilbe without compromising the best medical attention available.

I will try to update as much as possilbe but please understand we have a lot going on right now and I'm not around the computer a lot.

                Thanks,

                Jason Nelson

                            Get Better Soon

                            Wyatt,
There is a great doctor is St. Louis. She is Dr. Susan McKenna, she worked on Christofer Reeve and me. She is a plastic surgen but does nerve transfer work and that must be done within 7 months of an injury or sooner is better. She got my arm working again when other surgens thought that it never would move again. She at the Jewish-Barnes hospital. It can't hurt to call.
I hope that the rescue team kept the engine dry. LOL.
If you get bored you can call me at work, 920-269-4381
                            Best wishes,
