where were the fast east coast 80 motor's? i only seen the finals on sat. but the 302's of kyle and mike had 2 to 3 mph on field!! and this was a short course... really think it's time to get a class for the 80 or 302 out of 20ssh!!! same motor should have won csh and 20ssh would have won both classes if mike didn't jump in first heat.

When 20SS goes away it will be replaced with the new "B" class. The motors for this class will be the 80 and the Racing Outboards 20ci.
I for one still like the idea of being able to use a motor such as the 302 in (2) classes. What an inexpensive way to go racing and actually get some water time.

I agree with you and am in strong favor of keeping the 80 and 302 in the 20ssh class. Yamato suppliers have been strong supporters of Stock Outboard racing and I do not believe they should be replaced by a new supplier that has no history of suppling products to stock outboard racing.
Is what makes sense to me is to keep the 20ssh class the way it is currently. There is always talk about keeping the cost down for new entrants to Stock Outboard racing. What better way to keep costs down for new people than by enabling them to purchase a 302 and race two classes with the same boat and motor?

to fast
i feel the reason for the 302 in 20ssh was to add enty in the class not be the dominant motor!!! now that Dewald know's how to prop the 302 for 20 that what it is!! 66 mph on big course is what there seeing it is now to fast for the new guy's or the 14 year old's moving up from A ...i started in 20ssh and think it was the best class for the new guy but now it's almost the same speed as csh and some use smaller boats. however is it a way to WIN NATIONALS in two classes with same motor Yes....

already whining!!!!!!!
holy crap, it has only been one day and "someone" is already crying about a 302 winning 20SSH!! These guys (Peeters/Oberto, Perman, Bryne's, Nilsen) have busted their asses to get there restricted 302's running VERY WELL. Leave them alone. An 80 can still run just as fast and does............there are LOTS of equally fast 80's on the East Coast....................speed does not always win the race..........smart driving DOES!
CONGRATS to Peeters/Oberto and Pavlick boats for winning 20SSH with a restricted 302 (did not "Jimmy O" state a 302 would win??) and to the Perman's for winning CSH.............."West Coast 302's".Daren

oh so the fast 80 from east coast were not there? because like i said earlier the 302 had 2 to 3 mph on field!!! that was my point not how good of a driver or how much work the guy's do to get fast. i'm sure the guy's who ran 80's put alot of effort in their stuff too. i didn't run 20 or stock Nat. not sure i will again...but do have some new guy's i want to have run 20ssh so i still think it's time to get the 302 out of that class or make a new class for the 80 in mod, stock or whatever!!!

with 2 - 3 MPH on the field.....maybe we should look at slowing the 302's down so they are equal....which is the intent when there are multiple engines in a class."Ask anyone, I have no friends. I do have some people that put up with me and mostly because they like the rest of my family"

I am not sure what final heats of 20SSH you watched because if the 302's had 2 to 3 MPH on the whole field then the 80 would not have been able to even come close. Yes a 302 won the first heat on the water but was the first boat a crossed the line in a heat with 8 gun jumpers. On a course as small as this one was any of the boats that got out front at the start would have stayed there. There was no one that had 2 to 3 MPH on the whole field this year. As for seeing 66 mph on a GPS testing, GPS's are all relative to location I know of people that have seen that with there 80 and at a different lake with the same stuff seen no more then 63 mph. I will say the 302's ran very well and I am glad to see people running them since here in the mid west they are not run in 20SSH. Congratulations to John for his win in 20SSH.
