It was GREAT! First time in the boat and it fell like I raced all year. The one thing I didn't like about side fins was the inability to adjust your line without thinking of hooking that fin both in the straights and the turns. This boat eliminates any of those doubts of putting the boat where ever I want it when I want it, it gives me more options.Need to do some testing now and get her to sit on top of the water some more in the straights. Looking forward to Lock Haven, and hoping we will have smart CSR drivers on the course and not those guys that fly up the inside in a side fin and expect it to turn(you know who I am talking about,not you).

I'm glad you like the boat. Sounds like it is everything you wanted. I do not have any trouble with my side fin boat but I understand what you are saying. Bottom line is that each driver must feel confident in the boat they are driving. Lock Haven is a great race and a great race for CSR. We'll have side fin boats and roll-up boats and its just the course for an even playing field. As far as drivers being out of control, you just have to get a good start and beat them to the first turn or stay way away from them, at least that is my theory.

Side Fin Vs Rollup Runabouts

As an outside observer, but still a Stock Outboard fan.
I question why, you would put two diffrent types of handling
runabouts in the same class, if you feel there could be a potential
problem with them in the turns. This sound like you are
asking for trouble. Boat Racing is already dangerous enough.
I remember some problems in the turns with coventional vs
picklefork hydros in the late 70s and early 80s.

Just my outside observation
I was never a runabout driver. It took to much skill.

Bob: letting the guys with the side fins run with the rollup boats leaves plenty of room on the inside.
