ok. I probably should have side stepped the thread with a different subject.
So, because Merc made their tuner, it was legal. Because Champion could not make their tuner it was not legal. Seems a little twisted, but, rules are rules.

No one is getting fat making parts for any engine in any class at this time...And I'll keep the statement in general without naming anyone by closing saying it is not a good practice for anyone in any class of any engine, prop, accessory to have a voting interest in any rule, committee, and so fourth. Not just exclusive to J, this should be in every class. Kind of like when a politiian has an interest in something, they typically abstain from voting. That's all I'm saying.

I will tell you that as a stock outboard Commissioner, I am an elected official to represent what the racers in my region want. There have been many times that I have voted opposite what I felt was best because it was not what my region told me they wanted. As for abstaining from conflicting interests I do agree and if you are present at the national meeting and see how the commissioners conduct them selves you know that most are very good about doing so. The bad news is if every commissioner abstained in every situation that they had any involvement in then we would never get any thing done, since the ones that run for commissioner are the one that are very heavily involved in the sport.
Now with that being said if a commissioner does vote on something they have a personal interest in then I would hope that they vote for what is best for the sport and not what they personally want. That is part of being an elected commissioner not an appointed one.
      Just my thoughts.

Brian, thank you for clearing my questions up. As I said, I'm new, just feeling around as I read rules, read posts, reply, etc, and that comment was directed toward clarity, not to be critical. The national meeting, is something we are considering attending.

I think perhaps the topic I twisted off to should be moved under a different title, as is not directly meant for J class....
