2008 UIM World Championships

For the 2008 season, the World Championships for the 125cc, 175cc & 250cc Hydroplane will be held in Florida USA. Additional classes will be added as finalized. Having several potential race sites across Florida, we have started the process of elimination to create a fan friendly venue and provide maximum exposure for our sponsors & teams. I would like to thank Ralph Donald for his efforts to acquire the sanctions & allowing me the opportunity to promote this event. And to Bill Hosler for his wisdom, encouragement & effort for this sport.............

Looking foward to returning to Florida for a major boat racing event in 2008. Congratulations to Ralph Donald for his hard work behind the scenes at the UIM, I know it took a lot of negotiation to secure this triple world championship event. Special thanks should also go to the two international federations (I beleive it was Sweden and Slovakia) for their co-operation.

I have a few venues in mind, Ralph, Bill Hosler & myself just visited a really nice site in St Pete, Lake Maggiore would be ideal. Time to roll up the sleeves & get to work.

Thanks to Ralph for all the effort you put in to get the Worlds right here in the good ol' US of A! You were an enormous help to my brother Bill last year when we travelled to Auronzo, Italy for the Worlds and we appreciate all your work!
We can't wait for '08 and intend to be fully UIM compliant!

2008 UIM WC In Florida

Any further thoughts on the location and date for these championships. The teams in Europe are inquiring, as they need to begin making arrangements for transport of equipment. Remember, they have a racing season that runs into September. So, the more time to plan the better for them and for international participation.
