  • New Racer Say's Thanks

Having just returned from my first weekend of racing at Kitsap Lake(Region 10) I would like to offer my sincere thanks to the Seattle Outboard Association and all the racers present. The club did an excellent job of organising and running the races under very challenging weather conditions.I would especially like to thank Roy & Bill Blackwell for their help and advice as well as Pat Gleason and John Paramore. The warm reception I received from everyone was trully amazing, probably the finest group of people I've had the pleasure of meeting ! I am hooked and can't wait to get to another race.

    Thank's Again,

    Glad you came

    John,

It was great to see you get your project on the water. You did a great job of restoring the old "Abracadabra" Rocket Hydro.

Since you're new and we're a bunch of dumb yanks, don't get offended by the fact that they kept calling you "John Glen" instead of your full name. Maybe it was just our way of letting you know we think you have "The Right Stuff"

    See you hopefully soon,

      John,

good to see the old Abracadabra back on the water. I had that boat built by Skeet Phillips 25 years ago, in fact its first race was at the Stock Outboard Nationals in Wakefield Michigan with a Merc 30H Wizard on the back. Lots of good memories tied to that boat. I will try and find some of the original pictures and post on Hydroracer(be patient we just moved). Anyhow congrats on your first race and have fun this summer.

        John,

I'm so glad you were able to at least run the 1 heat on Sunday. Sometimes, it's easy to forget the excitment involved with one's first race. Helping you out just reminded me of the fun, excitment and thrill of why we really do this in the first place.

Great job on the boat. You did a fantastic job on the paint and the restoration.

Hope to see you at another race this summer.

            "cw" ???

I looked at that 'CW' for a long time before I saw the little Cdn flag on the coaming. 'CW' is the rarely seen APBA designation for an entry from 'Canada West'.
Reg1, 2 & 3 see a lot of the 'CE' boats, ie; Canada East.
There is a third one for the guys on the prairies; 'CP'.
It should be 'CC', ie; Canada Central, but I guess they thought that would be too confusing, as many would associate that with a popular brand of Canadian rye whiskey; Seagrams Canada Club, or "CC" to most.

John, It was a pleasure to meet you, even though it was briefly over dinner, you seem like a class act guy. Hope you can get to another R10 race soon.
