I'm getting ready for Lawrence this upcoming weekend, which we will be racing on a 1 2/3 mile course, with all that extra time, it occurred to me: I was really hungry last year during the race (not at the site “during the race”, but actually while in the boat driving around the course “during the race”). What I am wondering is, what kind of snacks would you recommend? I’m thinking maybe a slushee and a candy bar and I’m sure my A-runabout can be retrofitted with a multi-axis cup holder. Seems to make sense to me…

Hey Jon,

Try mounting a Hibachi .... and slow cook the pepperoni while taking in the view. We'll be there Friday trying out a few new ideas that may be better suited for a longer course??? Do you have any idea when testing usually starts?

This will be an age test. How about space food sticks and Tang? BTW Sean, if you don't see testing listed on the sanction there isn't any. We have to be careful about running on these lakes when we're not supposed to be, all it takes is a complaint or two..... Tony

Sean and would have showed up to test out a few new gadgets. Looks like we'll need to test in Mason county Friday. PM if anyone wants to join in.

I looked last Sunday at the APBA site and they did not have Lawrence sanction( or would that be circular???) listed. This morning the sanction section is down?

Does anyone have the abiltiy to post the sanction?

Directions I-5 SOUTHBOUND: Take #512 Puyallup, Parkland Exit to Pacific Ave. thru Spanaway. Take right fork onto Hwy. #507. Roy is 4 miles. Go thru Roy to McKenna. Go thru McKenna, across the bridge, and left on Vail Road. Left at 153rd (Lake Lawrence fish sign). Stay on 153rd, go past fire house. Turn right at Scenic Shores. Follow signs to camping area. You will be driving thru residential area. Go slow and quietly. I-5 NORTHBOUND: Take exit #88 to Hwy. #507, follow signs to Yelm, continue thru, take right on Vail Road. Follow above directions at this point.

Accommodations Overnight Camping at resort: $20 PER VEHICLE parking space for the weekend. No power hook up. Generators off no later than 10:00 PM. Quiet time enforced. Motels in Lacey or South Tacoma.

I was thinking, your 45 would be a good place to eat in. For 1 your sitting down. For 2 you have plenty of places to hard mount snack holding devices. Lastly, as far as I understand 45's go around the same speed as a C (or is it a D) boat, either way you have plenty of time. I just wouldn't recomend the hibachi idea in the closed cockpit.

How bout a 60mph drive thru?

Actually I believe a driver should practice the ancient Indian Buddhist art of fasting during the five or so minutes a race takes. I, on the other hand, will be on the beach eating a steak sandwich.

Besides, we’re going to have The 305 so aired out that the drivers will have more things to worry about than travel snacks….

The 305 has been retrofitted with a cup holder. Gino's "sippy cup" has a no spill valve and fits nicely. See you in the morning!
