    Looks like Minnesota OPC racing!

I only looked at the opening picture and it immediately brought to mind the action that goes on here in MN in the Mini-GT class. Over the last couple of years there has been excellent participation in this training ground for future OPC hotshoes.

            Pat,
I'm trying to think positive here, Help me out. I've heard from one of the PRO outboard people that the stock guys are so cheap they won't even give a new motor a chance...

useing the word cheap is a fast way at saying ya just won't spend the money to improve the stock catergory not that ya can't cause plenty of members hop in ya Navigator and go fishing in ya $30,000 pleasure boat. Bringing out the facts that there are plenty of engine's available for you guy's I owe to the sport. As I have said all the great Drivers came from (and some are still there) the stock catergory, just feel that stock should be stock and not some form of mix up motors. With membership numbers as in the past ( in the thousands ) and hope the stock Commission and members see my rantings a my attempt to help all of boatracing.

                Americans Are Cool...

See in AMERICA we have to have the short mid section and racing gearcase and the laydown carbon fiber boat....We can't race something like this....

                We HAVE TO BE COOL!!!!

ADD; See we have to race COOL BOATS in AMERICA that when the motor stops, and you reach back to start it, the boat sinks. Or if it is a runabout, and you are in a river, the current causes the boat to turn "TURTLE".

What is needed is a $5,000 A motor that you have to lift to start....Why would you race a motor with an electric start that your local dealer would LOAN you??? Free motor or a $5,000 COOL race motor???

                Easy...COOL!!!!

Thanks for posting those races....makes me want to race!!!.... In NASCAR, S meant STOCK....for stock....

I sold 54 props last summer for LAKE RACERS with two cyclnder Evinrude/Johnson....Not one races....

But seriously, I'm sure they're a great race boat and make up a great race class. the thing is... I just "don't get" the smaller OPC type classes. I guess I can't relate to racing in something like that. Now the bigger classes, like SST120 and up, I get. I can't afford it, but I get it. Get it?
But I do have to say, it looks like a great website! Lots of work went into it and it shows. I also have to say, I love the idea of having a "training boat" for new racers to try out.

                  http://www.lobmbc.co.uk/training.html

Thanks for sharing the weblink. It's saved in my bookmarks.

I was just doing some more brousing and read this:
"Due to the variety of boats and engines competing, most races are started on an individual handicap basis. This allows for the smaller and possibly home built craft to compete with larger and sometimes works-sponsored outfits. It may be that the slower boats will be well into their second or third lap before the scratch boats enter the race. Theoretically the handicap should allow the entire field to cross the finish line in a dead-heat - a rare occurrence! Some hydroplane events are based on a group handicap basis, with boats starting in batches according to engine capacity."

Maybe we ought to try that sort of thing around here...

                          We Don't All Wear Red!!!

And march in straight lines but we're close to regressing,( is that a word) to what we were as far as racing goes. Me thinks rules need to revisited. Probly p###eD off about 500, 700 kneelers
