  • PRO Commissioners- OSY 400

    To All PRO commissioners,

Please do not follow the SORC by putting a 3/4 Height restriction on OSY in the name of parity. This plan will just cost us more money, time and setup changes, that in the end will change nothing!! I have raced the Yamato 102 motor since the first year it was a legal CSH on every type of boat and with hundreds of props(raced the first 6-Blade prop at Ocoee one year, when it was leal in Stock) and all heights(raced at heights with propshaft above the bottom, when legal, and pumped water).
Please do not screw-up another class.
    Thank You!
    Harry Pinner, Jr.

It's not another class. It's the same class run in a different category under a different set of rules. Just because the SORC took a position on this issue, doesn't mean I can't still comment on it. This is a perfect example of why this class in a differenct category is a problem. Ed Hearn.

Its not the same class, half the people that race it do not race CSH, 4 in my region alone.

This is not accurate. I have the boat counts. Ed.

This is Accurate, Counts are not facts, we have more OSY racers in Region 5 than CSH. In Reg. 5 we have had some of them cross over to CSH so that us that run just CSH have enough boats. That is where your getting boat counts that are not accurate.

Sorry to post and don't mean to stir the pot, but OSY is stronger than CSH in Region 5. One or two even run the 80 or 202. (My new boat was built lighter with OSY in mind.) Some of the lighter guys like Joel Brown, Joey Pinner and Ken Godwin are too light for CSH. BJ Tetro sold his Yamato rig, but they ran only OSY. My nephew will run OSY and may be too light for CSH.

(In fact, you can see Joey Pinner in NUT2F's Avatar passing me with yards to the finish with his OSY rig. I'm still crying in my beer over that one.)

              does OSY-400 = CSH ???

I think not. Same basic boat and motor, but does OSY-400 have a legal minimum weight? Or is like other PRO classes, toss the lead and let `er fly!

You Know Ed Yamato first came to the US around 1974 guy named Jim Mackean (holder of many world records all pro as well as his son) brought them to the Pro NAtl,s Hinton West Virgina first were run in a class called novice 350 (pro class my son ran)also are run in UIM as a Pro Class (have no stocks in Europe). Merc and Omc sold you down the river in the 80's (not commenting on this further on the net) It's time to run what outboard dealers in US have on the showroom floor, like Honda, suzuki nisson, yamaha pick out a 30 cubic inch with a club foot and some day you'll be a hero. let market forces take place and these Japanese Mfg's will do the rest.

                You now have total disclouser

Just because Region 5 is like that doesn't make it true for the rest of the country.

                          Back to the Question

                          Harry:

To answer the ORIGINAL question, the Pro commission has no plans to institute a hieght rule in OSY 400.

I will not comment on the other issues, as there is no reason to.

                              My Understanding

That the commisions really don't have a say in anything. If the APBA BOD wants it, they get it through as a Saftey rule ? Can they so that in PRO ? I assume they can't touch USTS, but they can touch the Pro Category in general in APBA ?

I do believe that is how the tuck rule came about for Mod in FAH. The commission voted it down, but it was over ruled by APBA and made a rule regardless. Same for the next year when they changed the tuck rule slightly for it, the commision unanamously voted to go back to original rules withno tuck, and it was said the rule will be this.

                              Why bother with commisions ?
