Cottage Racer
This would be considered a Cottage Racer, I guess, The powerhead is a 40's Speeditwin (end of cylinders have holes for spark plug covers) with adapter to use Johnson Racing Vacturi Carb. The tower, I'm not sure. The lower unit is from a 1929 Quad (OMC's first 4 cylinder motor) and was pretty "racy" looking for it's time. Rotation is counter-clockwise as is proper for "C-Service" motors. Parts can be seen on some of the motors on my Website.

BH needs to respond
If I recall Brian Hendrick has one of those motors and it is somewhat rare If I remeber correctly. I cannot remember what he told me it was but if he sees this he will respond.

c-service ???
Don has pretty much got it pegged. It is a very pretty, but not very radical, 'souped up' Evinrude 22hp SpeediTwin, 30ci, from the 40s. This is the start of a race motor, like the Stan McDonald/Blankenstein one I have [Tack has one too], but is probably a stock block as the flywheel is not cut down, which must be done, and main bearings reinforced, to allow more revs. Also looks like he has retained the OEM 'muffler', but cut the pipe off short. Evinrude had some real fast looking lower units on their service motors at that time. Hope no one bids this one up too high thinking it is a real alky burning C-Service.Brian Hendrick, #66 F
