  • Shop Fire!

    News Flash!

I was just made aware of a small shop fire at the Runne Racing headquarters in Rumson, NJ. Fortunately Dylan was quick to the extinguisher and saved most of the equipment. Overall little damage was had. I believe the only boat suffering significant damage in the inferno was the 4-J. Rich tells me this boat now belongs to Scott Reed so it’s not much of a loss. It’s reported that the boat should have been picked up weeks ago.

Oh well, you never know with those portable heaters!

Thanks Troy... we're picking up the pieces right now. Rich had to make the qucik decision to save either the boat or the Harley, and since he no longer owns the boat, the Harley made it out. Sorry Scott, Rich just bought a new Harley, so no refunds.

This brings back bad memories for the "What's Up Doc" racing team. In 1979 our shop caught fire in the middle of the night and we lost 4 boats, a trailer, 4 motors, tools, a 1929 fully restored Model A, lawn mowers, and other misc. things. The only thing we saved was our props although the next year everything switched to 3 blades, so they weren't much good anymore. We thought about quitting after that, but thank goodness we persevered on and bought two new boats and were back at it for the 1980 season.

              YES! bad memories

Yes we had a barn fire about the mid eighties. lost a trailer, a short sponson "d" sid, a freshly restored RawsonCraft Hydro, Gord McRady Junior's Super C Rawson Boat and about 30 storage boats and a barn full of outboard parts, but funny! The owner that we were leasing the barn from never had to work again after that fire

              Regards,
              Dave Scott
