The number 1 table saw rule is no drinking before or while you are running the table saw..... or any saw for that matter. I learned this from The Master, Ed Karelsen years ago.
Cooper Jess informs me that a Kid Craft Runabout cannot be built unless two cases of beer are consumed. Apparently the width of the cockpit is constructed with two cases placed in between the cockpit combing as it is set up. The plans apparently provide that, when all of the beer is gone, the glue is dry and the decks can now be applied. Ed.
Ed,
That is a 1974 Q-Craft. They were built by Larry Wagner in the mid 70s. There was an earlier version that I believe was pulled off a C Rinker that had the bow cut down to 10' 3". Wagner was originally from the Fort Wayne area but was in Battle Creek Mi when he built this one.
Thumb works ok, needed 9 stitches and some bare spots where skin got removed but not deep enough to need skin graft. Was hoping for vastly altered fingerprint to possibly facilitate a career change but that doesn't seem possible now. Lost an afternoon of production on Steve Wheeler's 25XS/25MH and fooling around with Doug Martin's JH but got to meet a hand specialist who's kid plays hockey on a team that Bill will play in a week. He said I didn't need another office appointment, he'll check it again at the game. How many other people have doctors that accomodating?
Beer was not an issue, chalk it up to simple carelessness. But no lasting damage.
Sam glad your ok been there done that my right thumb has no finger print cleaned them off with a moulding head in the table saw right down to the bone, more careful now. Should have the 25 Mod boat out of the framing jig Sunday and start framing the BSH boat while putting the decks on the Mod boat. Will post some pictures.
Destiny is a matter of chance,it is a matter of choice; it is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved.
I've lost track of the year, but I was working on a prop for Stan Armstrong that was a copy of your CSH cleaver. I managed to get my finger in a prop blade that I was thinning. My left hand spent six weeks in a cast. I couldn't even pick my nose when my hand was in a cast....
Surgery made my finger move again. I hurt myself on Chad's 4th birthday. He remembers going to the hospital and watching me get stitches....My i ndex fi nger has never been the same...but that summer I was in a castg is unforgettable...as I could not work props, so, my daughter and son went fishing with me everyday.....
Hope you're coming to LA, Sam...I'll buy you a free BEER...
ADD: YOU KNOW WHERE THAT PROP ENDED UP.....,RIGHT..ON DANGEROUS DEL'S CSH...NATIONAL CAMPONSHIP RIG..
ADD;
Hey Sam...TGell me abut that boat you built for Norm Schuab's kid (JSH)...X-Mas???? year???
Sam ,
I'm glad your OK. ,I got 3 fingers & the thumb on my left hand a few years back, Doc told me something that stuck in my mind , He said one should treat a table saw blade as if it were the head of a poisonous snake. I guess I would say add a snake head for every beer consumed.
