Since we should be racing to satisfy the spectator, we must keep the pit area at the Depue Nationals as it has been for the past several years. It is the best and only way to do it!!
The PRO overlap rule is based on the respect each PRO driver has for the competitor. It works in the PRO division and should not be changed! When each driver begins to lose respect for the driver nextdoor in a turn, that is when the PRO division should think about adopting a rule from SO
While I personally happen to agree with everything you said, keep in mind that items on the agenda were brought to a commissioner, who then forwarded them to Steve G. to be placed on it.
This does not mean that everything listed will be adopted. I would guess that some of the things will not merit much discussion at all.
I would be happy to address the PRO Commission under the item "Stock Chair's role in appeal" under the OSY-400 Record overruling by the APBA BOD, which is on the agenda. Haven't received my invite yet, though.
Curious that a similar item wasn't listed on the agenda following the Pro Radio Rule appeal?????
On the pit area, I think there were a number of issues that caused the field pits to come into being. 1. was the flooding that occurred a couple of years ago and it was necessary to do so. 2. The advent of the tall larger trailers also came into the picture.
I think that the Men's Club would like to see some of the smaller trailers along the water's edge as the fans really like looking down into the pit area and see the thrashing that goes on sometimes when the 3 minute gun goes off. They just do not want the larger trailers to block the view of the race course.
I believe that smaller trailers could be put at the lake site, but do we penalize the larger trailers by putting them into the field area again? Would be a topic for discussion with the Men's Club.
The PIT area discussion has no place in the Commission Meeting, although it appars there every year. This is the decision of the conducting race clubs. The commission knows that it is highly likely that the pits will be placed in the field. If the commission has a problem with this, then move onto the next Nationals Bid.....
And I have a small trailer and would personally benefit from being close to the water.
Last year, as many as 6 people collapsed from the heat at the Natioanls. Can you imagine how much hotter it would have been on the rocks with the sun reflecting off the water?
