Anyone know of a lake that will let you test on in south florida? I'm in the Ft. Lauderdale area but I'm willing to drive some if need be. Trying to get everything set up for my first race in a CSH. Thanks

You can call Carl Staron as was mentioned to schedule a test session at Lake Apthorpe in Lake Placid. Don't try to get on there without doing that though, as the lake now has a homeowners association that will make it very hard for you if you test without permission and specified times.
Better yet, hit one of the scheduled AOF races. All types of boats allowed. Very cheap and INSURED. A few guys get together there and either test or do a race if enough from the same class show up. It is a laid back fun time at a beautiful site with good friends.
Carl's number is 863-699-9701
The January race looks like it MIGHT be cancelled as several of the racers will be out of town. However, if enough interest is shown to Carl he might reconsider. It costs him money each time a sanction goes in for the test/race sessions for the insurance, and so far this year he has paid it out of his pocket. It would be nice if everyone chipped in and a great time can be had by all with a set up race with clock, buoys, pick up boats, etc.
It only cost $25 for a one event (weekend)AOF membership and you can get a full membership for only $75 a year.
We need to keep the enthusiasm at this site or it will be gone.

Call me before you get their. I've got props to try and I'll bring over a chase boat also.
I'm five minutes from Apthorpe. Also tried Lake Clay last week. If the boat traffic is light It's also a great test Lake. The local marinas use it to quick test repairs.
