I’m looking for some input on prop size. I’m running a merc mark 28 on an A/B quicksilver with 1:1 gears on a local lake. It’s mounted to a hydro about 10ft long and 95lbs… I weight 165. Currently I’m running a 2 blade (unknown dia. and pitch) with the prop shaft 3/4in below the bottom of the boat. This setup seems to get the best top end speed, but not very fast @ 52mph. The boat also rockets out of the water within a few seconds. I’ve shimmed the mounts up so the prop shaft is almost level with the bottom of the boat… but it still flys out of the water and throws a wicked tail and it reduces top end speed. My best guess is that pitch of the prop is too low…??? After finals week is over and I get home for break I plan on taking the prop to a local marina to get it gauged so I have some numbers for comparison.

Any information/input/comments would be greatly appreciated!

    Mike,

Call Craig Dewald at 610-926-2964 and he can fix you up. Most likely it will be about 6 1/4" to 6 1/2" Dia. and about 10" pitch in a two or three blade.
