Mike there are a number of trick things about the bottom. but by my understanding of the rules some of them would have to go away to be ran in A class. IS /was John a little guy ? the cockpit is very narrow
I drove this boat 2 years ago on our pit and i could just fit into it
That's John P's old boat no doubt about it.
Kevin, I posted this pic to help you out. But, I bet you're gonna get some snickers about the gearshift lower unit on the boat... sorry.
do you see the shifter extention on the motor? there is a shaft running forward over the steering bar with a black knob on it so the guy could put it in and out of gear GASP! WHAT FUN IS THAT lol
i can laugh but he beat me with that stock motor and mine wasnt. i have a 15 hp tuned pipe 15 hp head, carb (all the things the manual said was diff. in my year motor)and i think he still had 3 seconds on me ( this local rig is for sale with the motor in the picture) thanks Jeff

Hi kevin, Thats funny about the guy being fast with the stock gear case. I think I am going to let my oldest try out my J/A Giles this year with a setup like that at our lake place. How did it plain out and handle for the guy?

it will get on plane just fine, but you will not see speeds that will let the boat truly work as it should. At least in the gravel pit where Jeff's photo was taken. as i recall 35~37 mph
