    Hey Howie,

What are the legal motors that can be run in SST60 ? is it only the old OMC SST60 motor ? what else is considered a legal motor ?

    Thanks

That is the only motor listed in the rule book as legal.

Marc is correct, that is the only legal motor at this time. You can use the 56 ci Loss Foam Block only not the permanent mold. There are lots of these out there. Once you get the block you do need to replace the sleeves in it and put the bridged sleeve in. The rest of the powerhead is the same asa fishing motor with the exception of the ignition (ours doesn't have a rev limiter) You can also use the old stinger midsections and the internal components of the stinger gearcase, just add the tuner/adapter plate and the steering bar wings and your midsection is ready.

Mike Wienandt has the Selva motor that was imported into the US. It is collecting dust in his basement. I know he'd love to sell it and replace the funds that OPC used to purchase this motor. I believe it had multiple issues on why it never was adapted into OPC racing here in the states.

There is an ongoing project in testing the new E-tech motors for OPC racing, after the testing has been done it will become more public knowledge. I for one would like to see a similar motor come in on a 15" mid that you can buy off the shelf to help replace / phase out the original SST-60 and SST-45 and maybe even the other classes out there. It would be real helpful if it could be mounted on the current boats and with no modifications to the factory stock motor.

Dan, Look at this APR schedule for the SST60's and look at how close most of them are to you. This is one of the main reasons that I am putting one together for myself.
