  • Big Gators in Lakeland

Interesting story about a gator attack in Lakeland, Florida. The incident occurred at Lake Parker which hosted the Dub Parker Memorial PRO Nationals in 1982 or 1983. Something to think about the next time you are floating in a Polk County Lake!!!!

      Dub Parker Memorial

      David,

It was 1981. The Dub Parker Memorial Trophy was awarded to the winner of 350 hydro by Dubs wife. It was one of my best moments. Every heat was like a fist fight with either Danny or Jerry Kirts. I remember the thunderstorms every afternoon(I think I was struck by thunder once) and as I recall, Bill Billiter told me to watch for aligators in lake Parker.
Also, I think that was the last time I saw Wayne Baldwin in a boat.

        dang gators are everywhere . . .

Even North Carolina. Somewhere on 70 east betwixt New Bern and Morehead City a truck ran over a 14' gator! Talk about road kill. Milady's going and I'm going way cool. She loves fishing so I told her we're gonna take the boat up Brices Creek into the National forest, stab a raw chicken on a real big hook, and troll for gators! Dang if she didn't hide the boat key. wimp
