  • Boat Racing Promo Videos

With all respect to the SORC, Dana Holt and all the folks who did the APBA Stock Outboard Promo Video, you gotta admit: The folks in Japan have some pretty good ones too:

....and this one isn't so bad either:

    That's what I'm talking about...

would'nt it be nice to be able to go to Best Buy and find So Mod Pro racing next to the X-treame motocross, volleyball sno- boarding ect... My brother in law works in there. we just need to produce the product. I'm reasonably sure I could get it on the shelf.

I cant understand a word they are saying in this clip but it is so well done that it kept me glued to the screen just to see the outcome. Give me one good reason why a young boy or girl living in Japan would not want to become a boat racer ? Prize money! fame !

What does a US Stock Outboard driver get at the end of the weekend ? pack up and drive down a dirty dusty country road full of pot holes until you reach the main roads then settle in for a eight hour drive back home with nothing to show for it.

Check out the video below and get ready to buy a plane ticket to Japan

                Cool Videos!!

                wow.... Some nice video there.

Two things immediately stand out to me about Japanese racing.

First, there is a very small rooster tail and hardly any spraying water in the turns, which I would allows for much better visibility there.

Second, I saw guys standing up in the boats while turning! I'm wondering what kinds of speeds they are travelling through the turns.

Also, I was once talking with Dave Mason about an idea I've had for years now, Night Racing. When we discussed this, Dave said it had been tried before and the problem was that although the drivers could see one another, they could not read the water at all due to the darkness. Does anyone have any experience or thoughs on that? I'd be very curious.

P.S. The Japanese girls are quite "fetching" in the last promo, we should use them here!

                  Japan Racing

They don't run 42 heats of spectator confusion. This kind of racing, with para-mutual betting, is the product of a business, just like NASCAR. I think ? that the guy ($) behind this kind of racing is Rocky Aokei that brought the Habachi grills to the USA and became prominent in off-shore racing back in the 70s.

Cool videos, but I think there's something wrong with my computer- I couldn't understand a word the announcer was saying!

Man, that one video of the actual racing really gives new meaning to pro overlap, especially at the start.

How do we get Mr. Aokei to throw some of his money state side ? I am serious about this. Has anyone ever been in contact with him ? just wondering.

I wonder if I was to get there on my own if they would let me drive? It looks like a lot of fun. Especially the fact that I don't see any side fins!

Since they are paid drivers probably not, I believe they are given housing meals etc. during the season which is all located on the stadium grounds. Its almost like going away to college for these guys and gals.
