  • Turn fin question

I've notice that some turn fins on the leading edge are cut (shaped) on just one side of the fin. Other fins are cut on both sides that form a "v" shape on the leading edge. What are the preferences/benefits for the different shapes?

    We only turn left so.....

Depending on the boat, having a proper fin is pretty important in getting a smooth entrance into the corners. You don't want one that grabs all of a sudden and hooks you right in front of someone or other equally ugly scenarios. I believe the best way to grind a fin is with a little bias to the left, but not totally one sided. If you grind the leading edge symmetrically it is just as likely to grab right as left.

      Testing?

What do you test when you go testing? Test the setup rather than just props. You want to go around the course faster. Might not mean more speed just better handeling.
