on a yamato 80 can you use any high performance plug wires and do they have to be solid wires?

My experience seeing stock racers of the 60's try anything but solid wires, the
most was maybe a POP when trying to start. Put in solid wires, the engines
started right up. To much resistence while cranking by hand . Can not
    say things changed. GOOD LUCK.

You can use any type of spark plug wire you choose. In the dark ages, solid metalic conductors were the norm because any resistance wires were pretty bad. However, today plain metallic wires are becoming more rare because restince wires are far better and give electrical shielding for computers, etc. I use a sprial-wound resistance wire on all our Yamato stuff and it works great although it takes some adapting with the 8mm outside diameter.

Glad to hear of the progress on ignition wires. Well, we all live and learn over the years.
