Eatonville
Here is the early word on the race: Tony Perman and the rest of the race crew did a fantastic job on this thing. We had 130 entries both days, with only one record being set all weekend, that being in JSR. There were a few other classes that were very close, such as OSY etc, but the main problem as I see was the weather.....it was in the upper 80's both days, with some humid stuff thrown in. I have never set a record (suprise suprise) but I have been told that it was just to hot. Maybe next year. Dave Racer

One more thing
Something I forgot to mention: If you get a chance, thank the Oberto family, as well as Ron Jones Jr. for putting some money up for this event. It was honestly a thrill to get a crisp 100 dollar bill for winning DSH. Again, thanx Ron and everybody else that kicked in some money. Dave

Close but only 1 cigar
First congrats to the Bartletts for their JSR record. We pushed a few records pretty hard, including OSY400, 350 Hydro, AXS Hydro, and a couple of the antique classes (one of the hydro classes was .062 MPH off). There's a couple pieces of god news to go with the bad of not setting records. First, I have a verbal commitment from my major sponsor that will allow us to do another record race next year. That means for those of you that were close, maybe you can sharpen up those wheels, for those who weren't close you have a year to test. Second, the conditions really were close to ideal, but about 15 degrees warmer than you'd like to see for record setting. In response I have ordered sunny and warm weather, with cooler temperatures (how's that for trying to please everyone) for next year's race. Let's go see if we can't do some record setting at Lawrence in a few weeks. TonyMoby Grape Racing

Speeds
Hey Dave, I don't have the speeds, and I don't think it would be practical, or perhaps even wise to post them here. Everyone that had a question about their speed had the question answered at the event. Besides, fast enough to win $100 IS fast enough.Moby Grape Racing

.062 mph
if this is the class i'm thinking of.....i feel the record would have been broke the next heat...and the driver was almost 1 mph over....in the heat i'm talking about..BUT!!!! 4 boat's pushed the start and jumped and he had to go with them..... not saying they should or should not have done that just that it SUCKS for the guy who had a GREAT shot at the record....
HE did jump on SAT. or he had it then and his fastest heat he ended up in the water.....but i will have him try again in two week's.....if he wants

Correction
I actually was a little off, the class I was talking about was .13 MPH off. Even though it's not the class you were thinking of, ironically this driver went swimming also . This was Jim Nilsen in C Service Hydro. I'm not sure how close your guy was, but considering he was over for 2 laps I figure it had to have been **** close. If we get the weather right for Lawrence it could be good for a few of our racers.
On an unrelated note, if anyone knows the Krautkraemers from Spokane, please let them know how much we appreciated them coming over. They scratched on Sunday because 20SSH was in the 3rd flight and they had to leave. I wanted to move 20 because I felt bad for them, but by the time they told me it was too late . I hope we see them back and I hope we can accomodate next time, like we always attempt to do. TonyMoby Grape Racing

Another Thanks
And also a big thanks to the "anonymous" donors for the JH and JR prizes. What a joy to see these kids get excited over Target gift cards and Baskin and Robbin's gift certificates........oh yeah, gotta run ...got a kid hovering over my shoulder wanting to go to Target....hmmmmmmm.
Thanks again
