  • Brighton MI Race

    This is a brand new race site in a Michigan State Park that has no houses on it and it is a no wake lake we are lucky to get in. I would hope that we can have a great turn out here for our first time out.

    Testing
    Friday, 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (after race course is set up)

    Registration Friday 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
    Saturday 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.
    Sunday 8:45 a.m. to 9:15 a.m.
    No registration after registration is closed.

    Accommodations
    - AmeriHost Inn, Howell, has a block of rooms, $79.97 plus tax, 517-546-0712
    - Best Western, Howell, has a block of rooms until Sept. 5, $79.97 plus tax, 517-548-2900
    - Best Western, Fowlerville, has a block of rooms until Sept. 16, $79.97 plus tax
    - Camping in the park in designated sites only, 800-447-2757 or online at www.midnrreservations.com
    - NO camping in the pits

    Directions
    - Note: $6 charge per car to enter the park each day
    - From the west: I-96 to exit #133; right on D19 to Coon Lake Rd.; left on Coon Lake to Chilson Rd.; right on Chilson to Bishop Lake Rd.; left on Bishop Lake about 2 miles until you see the park and lake on right side; take second park entrance to pits.
    - From the east: I-96 to exit #145; left on Grand River about 3/4 mile to Challis Rd.; right on Challis to Beaver Rd.; left on Beaver to Brighton Rd.; right on Brighton to Chilson Rd.; left on Chilson to Bishop Lake Rd.; left on Bishop Lake about 2 miles until you see the park and lake on right side; take second park entrance to pits.
    - Note: First park entrance goes to camp sites.

    Drivers meeting
    Saturday, 9:30 a.m.
    Sunday, 10:00 a.m.

    Race fees, per class per day
    Mod, $25; Stock, $25 plus $2 Top Gun fee; J Hydro, $10

    can you give me a hint on the course size? short, long, tight or wide... avg. water conditions?

      Also... correct me if I'm wrong, but in your directions it mentions turning on "Beaver Rd." ... Isn't that supposed to be "Bauer Rd."?

        Wow this race is pretty close to me. I can't make it this year, but hopefully it goes well and I can go next year! (Funds are drained due to wedding )

          im pretty sure, not 100% but i think most of the time it is fairly smooth, very little chop.

            The race couse will be a Tri-Oval a bit larger than 3/4 mile. The lake sits down in a bowl type sitting the wind does not have much effect on. I live 4 1/2 miles from the race site and have been watching it all summer and I have not seen it one time where it would not be good racing water. There have been many times that I have looked out my back door at my lake and it was white capping and drove over to the park and great racing water there. The lake is 15-50ft deep.
