His name was Bill Kuhn, he was one of the founding members of the now defunct "Odessa Boys Race Team". I knew Bill quite well (though haven't seen him in quite some time), he's a really great, talented and funny guy. He allowed me to race his 20ssH & Formula 350 Hydro for him thru most of the early 80's (did quite well with it too). Plus I helped him build some of his famous "Samorai Hydroplanes" from that era.
What was your Dad's name? If he was into racing back then (and hung out with Bill), I may know or remember him.
I live up the road from you in New Port Richey, I literally was born & grew up in and around the world of Outboard Hydroplane Racing (started racing at 12 and am now 43, but haven't raced actively in the last 8+ years due to finances & family commitments. You know how it is).
I'd be more then happy to help you with tips on Set-up, driving/racing etc. (I'm hoping to get back into racing with a 175 Hydro soon).
Let me know if/when your ready!

Quartershot,
Give me a call at (850) 559-1986. I will be through Hudson, Tarpon, St. Pete and Tampa constantly for the next three weeks.
The decks are going on my new boat and it will be done before Frostproof and Lake Placid, so if you are serious about CSH/OSY you may be interested in my red boat. You can call Tom Cronk and he can tell you about the boat and motor.
"Tecraft CSH/OSY, Yamato 102 rebuilt by Jerry Davids and tuned by Tom Cronk, DeWald prop. $3,200. Motor originally comes from Kevin Harrell, and Jerry Davids built this the boat for his personal use. Reason for selling is that Tom Cronk has come out of boat building retirement, and I have a new Tecraft OSY on the jig. Contact Doug at dougmcalarney@yahoo.com or (850) 559-1986."
Doug.

Don't forget to look at a CSR. There a quite a few out there too.
I don't know why, but it seems that too many new guys shy away from a boat with a pointed nose.
Their are lots of people in Florida who can help with runabout.

Doug,
I still have that Bunky in the garage. $150 takes it and I may have some of the hardware.
May be a good boat for quartershot.
I'll have it at the Lake Placid races and maybe a few more boats. Need to make room in the garage (and the yard).

Hey Dan the Bunky is on the very top of the rack, for the price I would take it and get my feet wet at Lake Placid for $150 you cant go wrong and should have a ball!

Hey Quarter Shot Dan, shameless plug here. Palm Harbor is in Florida House District 48. Be sure to vote early for my client Peter Nehr!
Early voting has started already for the Sept. 5th primary. I need a Nehr victory to pay for next year's racing and a new Tecraft.Last edited by DougMc; 08-22-2006, 04:35 PM.
