US Title Series
Just returned from Constintine for the Title Series Race. It was two days of great racing and top equipment. The weather was perfect and water conditions were equal. I do not have all the results but I can tell you Bruce Summers won the 250 Hydro race against the best in the US with a full field of boats. As a mater of fact, there were full fields in all classes except the capsules, OSY 400 and 1100 Runabout. Bruce had a real fast rig and is one to contend with next week at Depue for the Nationals. The 1100 Runabout was was a thriller with Mike Thirlby with a Konny engine winning over Paul Fuschlin with the big 6 Alky Merc. The 500 Runabout had a full field of 12 hit the starting line with Mike Thirlby taking the win. We had a entry (Don Rusnak) with a Krier Runabout and Konig engine. Must have hit something in the first turn as we had a big hole in the bottom when the heat was over. That ended our day so we thought. In the second heat two boats came together in the first turn which stopped the heat. One driver was taken to be checked out but returned later in the day. This was the only incident of the weekend. We had a D Mod Runabout ( same boat number) there to test and was already set up. We put a prop on it and ran the next two heats with it and did out testing there, (overall 7th) with a -20 MPH speed difference over the alky stuff. Wish we could go to Depue but other comitments were in the way. It looks like there will be great competion in all classes next week. I will post a few pictures later tonight. Constantine
Bruce Summers win was his first USTS win as I understand it. His wife, told me that the boat, motor, and Bruce were perfect for one another. The boat is the Denny Henderson had run for quite awhile and we all know that it is a winner. It was great to see the "old guard" take one home.
Also Mark Hall did a heck of a job in winning the 350h and brother Doug won the 500h. Brandon Thirlby ran away with the 1100h.
