Carleton Place, Ont

Hey All,

Well after 2 weeks of work I have approval for our race in Carleton Place, Ont. on august 18-20th.. We were trying for the 26-27 but there is a fishing derby that cannot be moved. The sanction is tenatively filed and I received the GO from the Town this morning. This will be a Torc event with Ottawa Valley Club co-hosting. This race site will bring back many memories for some fellow racers, it is very similar to Waterford in the course layout. tight first corner and great dog leg in the back on the way to the back stretch. I will come back to a roll call when all the prelims are completed. carleton place is about 50 Miles North-east of I81/401 for those thinking about it.

I just wanted to let you all know. PS - Steve French we should have 3 c-mod Merc on the H20 for that race as well as the upstate NY guys.

This race may also be a three in two event I am finalizing it now.

OH Ya!!

Hey Jeff,

Yep it's still there except now it is marked with a buoy. that will be the backstretch inside course marker and then there is another which ideally line perfectly up with the inside start line marker. Could not ask for better - LOL. The nice thing is the water is higher then it has ever been at this time of year so we should be in good shape.

I am shocked you!!! Forget. Not likely, What about Lake Dore, Golden Lake, The Farm (almonte), Calabogie etc...

We can get back into Cobden I spoke with them a while back, Lake Dore T&T in the fall sometime if we wanted and the farm at almonte we have been trying to get in from the other side of the river from the farm land owner we are still working on that. SSSShhhh!! Cardinal is a bad word - LOL. Welland and a kilo would be a nice refresher. I am stoked about this race and cannot wait. This has been a long time coming now we just need TED to run the propshaft route as a flyby - LOL.

Jeff, sounds like we are welcome in Dunnville any year. But we're still small clubs, takes money and vonuteers. With some potential to blow out in Dunnville we've concentrated on Waterford. The TRORA guys us to love coming up to Dunville in the more recent events there because we raced above the dam and everyone had a blast with the 5 pin turns!

Hi All,

Yes with much dismay it is now officially dead. I tried everything to get it approved. We had it all laid out with councils approval. The local paper even did a phone interview with me and printed it on the front page for all too see.

A week after the paper came out I got a call from the mayor saying that the park was double booked and this is a big park.. There is a PRIVATE wedding in the park and they booked it from 1-4Pm on Saturday. I made concessions that we would start racing at 9am on Sat and shut down from 2-4 Pm of req'd. That did not fly, I even had a council member try to force it again through coucil as of this Tueday but the other council members who had already voted YES would not second her motion.

So! They have said we can get in there next year this is unfortunate as I have now been bit twice by them and it is leaving a bad taste..

You have to love election years in any community..

Sorry guys I tried very hard for this and really wanted the race there.

It's unfortunate that we lost the race this year but your effort Dave, as well as the rest of the Ottawa Valley club member's efforts, are greatly appreciated and not forgotten.

Oh, and Steve if your looking for another Canadian race that would be closer for you, and me as well as of Sept 3rd, Long Sault is great place to go to. It falls on the week-end after the long week-end in September... the week-end before Crystal Lake. CSH and DSH should run so you'd have at least 2 rides or maybe more depending on the schedule. If Bob Abbott chimes in he might be able to give you a list of the tentative classes that are to run (might be too early to have that list right now though).

Steve, I'll be at school by September 3rd and for the exception of racing (I hope to go to Long Sault and Crytal Lake) and a week for Christmas, i'll be down at school until late April or early May.

Sorry to hear you lost this race for this year Dave but don't give up. Just reading about the enthusiasm you put into finding race sites is inspiring. We need more people out there like you willing to work your tail off to get races going. Keep up the good work and get others to help you out along the way.

My 20ssh/Y-80 is off the pace. Look'n for rings/gaskets. Will call T.J. after Nats.
Hope to test 302 on Fatty's old rig this week. If I see numbers close to what I saw with my 202D, I will run C-stock.

May pull pipe off 22 OMC to run BSH--anyone else running BSH?
