  • Annual Trip to Racing Country

Since there are NO races in Texas this year I'm heading to the mid-west at the end of June. Planning on hitting Zanesville, Defiance, Spectate the PRO Nationals, Wakefield, Alexandria Ky, Dayton, Lockhaven, Hillsdale, Brighton, and Franklin. Then to Dayton for my 50th high school reunion and then home. By then it may below 100 degrees down here. Looking forward to seeing all you folks. The way I figure it, it'll be about 14 weeks on the road. Will be operating out of Pickerington, Ohio for most of the time.

    Jack,
Between Wakefield and Alexandra there is Indian River Aug 12-13. We could use your pit help and expertise. We have from 3 to 6 drivers from Ecuador racing at Top 'O. Hope to see you at Camp Kurz.

Thanks for the confidence Darrell ,but unfortunately, I've got to beet feet back to Columbus. I sure hate to miss the best race in the country though. I wish you and the visitors all the best. It's hard not to have fun at Indian River.

        Jack,
We're all looking forward to your trip north. We appreciate your active support at our races, your willingness to help every race committee, and your competitive participation in the greatest outboard racing in the country. Drive safe, don't forget to bring that "B" Yamato, too. Mike Marshall, Raceboat61-S

          Top-O-Michigan Re-thought

Thanks Mike. Looking forward to Zanesville. Darrell, my wife tells me that I don't have to beat feet back to Columbus after Wakefield so I just might do the Top-O- Michigan bit. Where are you guys going to gather for the prep? I thought I'd be prepared to camp. Does the guy on Burt Lake still put up with the gang in his yard? If not, I'll camp in the Burt Lake State Park. Always a good spot and good showers. I hope you will be at Wakefield.

                Don't forget about Michigan

Jack, don't forget about Grass Lake, MI. The largest Stock Outboard race in the country! (outside of the nationals) The following weekend is Big Rapids, MI one of the most beautiful sites for a race in the country. Both are Michigan Hydroplane Racing Association events.

Hope your trip is great, sounds like a blast!

                Dean

Thanks for the invite Dean but as you acknowledged I don't have any stocks anymore. Sorry about that but I'll bet you folks have a good time and I will be thinking about you. See you at Wakefield if not Zanesville and Defiance. Jerry thank you also. Tell Dad I said hello. Us old guys have to stick together!

                      Jack,
What about the NBRA short course nationals in Centralia?? You're a defending champ aren't you??? After witnessing the great way you ran things last year, they really need you!!!!
                      Be safe,

                        Short Explanation.

Hey Brent, unfortunately I'm going to miss both the short course and the regular Nationals in NBRA. I'm going to be in Ohio and it is just too far to go when there are races close to Columbus. I hate to miss those races and feel a bit guilty for doing so but I've got to do my thing because I've seen the light at the end of the tunnel and it is freight train. I'm looking at the big 69 birthday in July and had planned for years to hang it up at 70 so I've got to make hay while the sun shines. Can't do this forever! Look forward to seeing you this summer Brent.

Happy Birthday Brian Palmquist & Jon Brewster

Special happy birthday wishes to two great guys - Brian Palmquist from Wisconsin, and Jon Brewster from Ohio. These two were born on the same day - June 13th - but two years apart...they have been good friends from the first day they met when racing as young kids. They call each other every birthday night every year!

Hope I run into you somewhere this summer. Hate to hear anyone talking about getting to old to race. It is really a bummer.
