      step v break . . .

      A step is a ridge that you can see and feel. Like a 5mm plywood sheet lapped over another with the edge exposed. A step, just like a stair step.

      A break is when the bottom sheathing deviates from dead flat and is slightly bent. If you eyeball the bottom you can see it. Smooth wood, but not dead flat straight.

        Another pic for you to ponder over

        Here's another pic for you boat builders and boat design junkies......

        It clearly shows the (inner) sponson design and the different angles and chimes that are used here in Europe on our boats. The boat in question is a pro 0-350 hull built by Frank Pfennig in Germany but other builders of boats in Italy, Sweden, etc pretty much use the same design layout
